Iaido: classical marcial arts

Iaido 居合道 is a  Japanese martial art, associated with the smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard or saya, striking or cutting an opponent, removing blood from the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard.

Many of those who study iaido use a blunt edged sword (iaitō). Few, more experienced, iaido practitioners use a sharp edged sword (shinken).

The foto above is Iaido Kata ( Iaido patterns of movements ) that I showed in the marcial arts magagine last year.

I like practicing marcial arts because I can enhance concentration in the quiet environment.

Today's lunch

The weather today was really nice so I went to the city museum to see 俵屋宗達(Sotatu Tawaraya ,in the early 17th century )exhibition with my friend.

He is one of the most mysterious artists in the Japanese history.
His works are designated as national treasures but no one knows him very well. Even dates of birth and death are unknown.

We ate rahmen noodle and gyoza(dumplings stuffed with minced pork and vegetables)
